Identify with Your Goals
Before even considering following a career route, you must get to know yourself. A big majority of people go through life by following a well-established pattern. The sad part is, they don’t even like what they do or they just don’t really realize how many other things they could do. In order to avoid this awful happening, you need to identify what are your biggest rational wishes.
Then, start going deeper and make an in-depth introspection in which you should think about the connection between your inner desires and your rational goals They have to match. Otherwise, you will not be truly fulfilled with your professional life. Identifying with your goals takes some time and effort, but it is a truly important process in any successful person’s journey.
Know your values
The place to start building careers success is with yourself. First, observe your core values and these values are the core principles that run your life. The more your career aligns with and humors your values, the deeper the sense of satisfaction you will derive from what you do.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in written form
Next you need to work on a compelling profile, to land the job you want you need to brand yourself effectively. We are all in the business of marketing even if you are an employee or Entrepreneur.
Learn to remove distractions.
Maintain a discipline and focus on your priorities. Don’t do the easy things first. Rather, prioritize those commitments that provide the highest return.
continuously innovate in your job to stay ahead of it. Take the initiative to come up with ideas for doing things better–and then have the courage to advance and implement them. Says Mehta, “Experience isn’t required for innovation. Thinking differently is. Look at everything and figure out where and how you can contribute, and then do so.”
Chase skills, not titles
We all want to get promoted in our jobs, and achieve the job titles that go along with those promotions. This is a mistake. People get so focused on what they should do that they lose sight of what they could do. Your success in the long run won’t come from working for a dream company or holding a prestigious job title. It depends on the skills and abilities you learn and bring to the table. Says Mehta, “Think of your career in terms of building blocks, each block representing a set of skills–and then do the work. Do whatever it takes to acquire the skills that will help take you to the next level. This takes guts and a willingness to turn a traditional career path on its head.”
